City of Melbourne AR ‘Santas Spectacles’ Experience

Web Augmented Reality (AR) activation

Federation Square and The City of Melbourne created a unique Christmas event in 2020.

Using AR reality (VR), magically transported you to the North Pole via Melbourne’s most iconic locations. This ‘Santa’s Spectacles’ event aimed to encourage a highly engaging winter wonderland experience for visitors of all ages to come back to the bustling Melbourne city.

Using your phone or tablet, you could find all sorts of playful Christmas characters like ice skating penguins, storytelling snow men, snowball-throwing elves and even selfie-loving Santa himself, at Federation Square, State Library Victoria and Bourke Street Mall.

 

VISUAL SOLUTIONS:

In order to create this fun, virtual, winter wonderland, The City of Melbourne, Traffik Group, and immersive technology experts, Zebrar reached out to the UAVISUALS creative team to help capture the baseplate visuals needed for the foundations of the experience.

We collaborated to create a web augmented reality activation to encourage a safe and engaging winter wonderland experience for visitors to Fed Square in Melbourne over the 2020 Christmas period.

It was awesome to see our footage and Melbourne come to life at the end of the project!
