Samsung Note8 #tothemakers Campaign

Samsung’s #tothemakers program is aimed to support a community of creators, doers, thinkers and talkers. UAVisuals and several other influences, artists, photographers and designers partnered with Samsung to create content via the new Samsung Galaxy Note8.

One of the stand out features of the Samsung Note8 is its camera which can be turned to Pro Mode allowing adjustment of ISO, shutter speed, exposure, manual focus, white balance, colour tone and depth of field. We were interested to see how the slim Note8 could help us capture high-quality imagery on the go without the need to carry bulky equipment.

We’ve been on the road a lot lately shooting some amazing locations and there’s nothing better than that feeling of wonderment as you explore a new place taking in each and every detail. But with Samsung’s new mobile technology enabling users the ability to capture footage in detail like never before, we wanted to see if we could approach our hometown of Melbourne with the same fresh perspective as a tourist.

On route to the Dandenong Ranges!

With the Note8 in tow, we head out at the crack of dawn to catch a killer sunrise over the city’s skyscrapers. The day is off to an amazing start. Desperately needing caffeine, we then hit Melbourne’s vibrant CBD to find a cool cafe and some street art. Famous laneways such as Degraves Street, Hoiser Lane and Croft Alley boast colourful graffiti as well as a myriad of cafes and hidden bars to discover.

Taking in the view

After lunch, we leave the urban jungle and make the hours journey to a literal one. In contrast to the fast-paced and electric city of Melbourne, what hits you immediately about The Dandenong Ranges is how green everything is. We follow the Kokoda Track Memorial Walk – also known as 1000 steps – feeling like we could almost be in a scene from Jurassic Park. Eventually, we arrive at a lookout atop a mountain overlooking some pretty picturesque landscape below.

The imagery created by UAVisuals and the other “Makers,” was showcased at Mr Wow’s Emporium, Fitzroy VIC on 29 November.
